Megan Saunders is the senior managing director of ESG for Kayne Anderson’s real estate group, responsible for the overall ESG strategy and consideration of ESG issues in the development and investment process.
Prior to joining Kayne Anderson in 2022, Saunders spent over 14 years in sustainable real estate, most recently as the director of sustainability for Lendlease’s Communities business where she led efforts in environmental and social sustainability strategies for their military housing and privatized Army lodging portfolios. Saunders worked with the business to develop the strategic direction and execution of project and portfolio-level outcomes in alignment with Lendlease’s carbon and social value targets. Prior to joining Lendlease, Saunders advised commercial property owners on the range of government and utility incentives available to green their buildings at Incentifind. Previous roles have included leading sustainability for architecture and engineering firm PBK, as the executive director for the Stamford 2030 District, and as a sustainable buildings consultant at Vidaris. Over her career, Saunders has worked in various sectors that have allowed her to cultivate a unique ability to translate environmental and social impact in order to create value and has been the key catalyst for the formation of strategic partnerships.
Saunders received a M.A. in City and Regional Planning from The Bloustein School at Rutgers University, and a B.A. in Sociology from The College of New Jersey. Saunders is a LEED AP BD+C, ND and a Fitwel Ambassador.
